Who is responsible
The site is run by Pthonos as a personal project. Under the GDPR, Pthonos is the data controller for the processing described here. For questions about this policy or your data, contact signals@unoptimized.xyz.
Data Protection Officer (DPO)
The GDPR sometimes requires appointing a Data Protection Officer (Article 37)—for example where core activities involve large-scale, regular and systematic monitoring of people, or large-scale processing of special categories of data. This site does not appoint a DPO, because that obligation does not apply to the scale and nature of processing involved (a small personal site with optional analytics and direct contact).
Privacy requests (access, erasure, questions, complaints) should go to the controller at signals@unoptimized.xyz—there is no separate DPO contact for this project.
What the site collects by itself
- Server logs (typical for any website): things like IP address, date/time, requested page, browser type, and referrer may be recorded by the hosting provider for security and operations. Retention depends on the host’s settings.
- Content you send (e.g. email if you write to the address above): only what you include in the message.
Cookies and analytics
The site may use small text files (cookies) and similar technology so that aggregated, privacy-oriented analytics can understand how pages are used (for example, which areas are visited and roughly how often). That helps keep the site understandable without turning visits into individual dossiers.
- Analytics is loaded only after you choose via the banner (accept or reject). If you reject, analytics storage stays off for that browser.
- We do not use the data for personalised advertising through this mechanism; consent is framed around measurement of traffic, not ads.
You can change your mind later by clearing site data / cookies for unoptimized.xyz in your browser; the banner may appear again on a fresh visit.
Legal bases (GDPR)
Depending on context, processing may rely on your consent (e.g. optional analytics cookies) or legitimate interests (e.g. basic operation, security, responding to email). Where consent is required, you can withdraw it as described above.
Your rights
